First Day at Our Worksite

We were very excited to get to the school in Vuelta Grande and see all the work that needs to be done.  The school is for grades 1 - 6.....after that, they are expected to go to work.  Dream Volunteers provides scholarships for some of the children so that they can continue their education in Antigua.

The school is located very high up in the mountains....remote, but very beautiful.  The cement block structure is very basic.  Our jobs for the day included mixing cement and building a block retaining wall, clearing brush and trees, leveling the sloping earth, and removing old wire fencing in need of replacing.

It was a great day :)
