The students slept VERY well last night after a very hard day's work at the school. Today we will head back up the mountain for Day 2 at the worksite. School will be in session today so there will be lots of children around! We will be installing fencing, doing some exterior painting, and conducting art classes at the school.
Later this afternoon, to continue our cultural part of our experience, we will visit/tour a coffee plantation, "La Azotea". Guatemalan coffee is the best!
Team Guatemala!

So great to see the pictures of all of you doing such great things for the community there. Most of the children are expected to work after completing grades 1-6? It's hard to imagine Niall (Alanna's younger brother) going off to work after he finishes school this year! As always, the work you are all doing stretches far beyond the boundaries of Guatemala, as I share your photos and your stories with people here in Portsmouth, my colleagues at work (who are from all over Rhode Island), and my students (who are from all over the world). Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteMissing my daily dose of Alanna very much already - XO!
I tried to post from my phone many times but it wouldn't take!! So here goes on the computer! You all look like you are having a great time and doing a lot of good work. Wanted to post a picture of the 6 1/2 foot snowman that we made on Saturday night so you could see what you are missing here. Hope it is still up when you get home Erin! Love you and miss you. Mom and Dad
