Mayan Culture

Today we had the opportunity to visit a Mayan village and learn of their traditions and way of life.  We learned of the responsibilities of each member of the community...especially the women.  They demonstrated how they prepare coffee, carry supplies on their head, and weave fabric to make their clothing.  What was most interesting was their "courtship" ritual and wedding ceremony.  We then had a "mock wedding" with a few of our volunteers :)

  1. Sarah - You look like a natural with that baby in your arms! :) And I am wondering how many of those bright, beautiful bags Alanna is going to manage to bring home with her? The colors are amazing. Have a great day doing great work!
